I find it fitting that Senator Jesse Helms joins company with Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, taking his final breath on the Fourth of July. Much like Jefferson and Adams before him, Senator Helms was an unabashed patriot and considered service to his country a most profound and solemn duty.
