I’ve seen some in the Blogosphere ready to pounce and blame Al Gore for yesterday’s Discovery Channel Bomber. While most of this is tongue-in-cheek, those who would use this unfortunate event to use a progressive style attack against Gore and his liberal friends are missing an opportunity to once again paint the left as out of ideas and out of touch.

We all knew Bill Clinton, Bill Mayer and the loons at MSNBC were wrong when they preemptively blamed Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Tea Party groups for violence that never happened. We shouldn’t blame Al Gore and the Environmental Wackos for the violence that did. Why? Because as much as I loathe Al Gore and believe his “Inconvenient Truth” is anything but true… he didn’t pick-up a gun, grab some homemade explosives and take people hostage. He might be trading on fear and false arguments, but he didn’t create James J. Lee.

If someone trading on lies didn’t create James Lee, even though Lee cites Gore’s book as a turning point, then you certainly can’t blame Beck and others for speaking the truth. This is an opportunity to take the high road and point out the sheer ignorance in the left’s attempts to silence the opposition. Will they stop their shenanigans and apologize for claiming conservatives and tea parties are inciting violence? Probably not, but the American people see the truth and it will pay dividends, if not now, certainly at the ballot box.

Last week a friend I’ve never met welcomed a new child into this world. Not knowing if their child would have Down Syndrome or another ailment he and his wife welcomed their son with open arms and infinite hearts. He was perfect regardless, and the world is a better, brighter place with his birth.

This week a dear friend lost a dear friend of her own. Her only comfort is her faith. Her only joy is the knowledge that her friend is finally free, and one day they will embrace again within jeweled walls inside large pearl gates.

Where others would fall, they have strength. It is through prayer that they continue to breathe. Through life and death, through heartwarming and heartache, they continue forward and march on… finding blessings even in the uncertainty… finding peace where none appear to be. They have hope and understand joy, and a beautiful light shines upon them.

A few weeks ago I heard Bill Randall recite a Saint Francis of Assisi quote — “Preach the gospel at all times. Use words if necessary.” Rarely have I seen two better preachers than these.

Our President is proclaiming his own greatness to the UN while simultaneously attacking our nation and a fellow state.  Is that the breaking point?  They are backing off the USS Cole prosecution for political purposes, is that the breaking point?  They are enacting backdoor amnesty for countless illegal immigrants who were on their way to deportation, is that the breaking point?  They are supporting a Victory Mosque at Ground Zero while calling all of the opponents racist, is that the breaking point?  They are making our children slaves to our debt, socializing our nation, and continuing to prop-up and bailout the very unscrupulous businesses that led to our economic collapse… is that the breaking point?

At what point do you throw open the window and scream at the top of your lungs “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore!“  At what point do you break?  At what point are you done?

I am done.

I’m done playing the games, hoping for the truth, and believing that the administration has any clue about our nation’s purpose or providence.  I’m done expecting leaders from either party to take our future or their sworn duty seriously.  No one should take up arms or even raise their voices, but we must stand up for our nation and stand tall for our liberty.  Glenn Beck’s rally tomorrow is a start, but its only a start.  We can’t win this fight with Kitchen Table Meetings or November Elections alone.  The only way to win this battle is with God.

I’m at my breaking point and I’m seeking divine intervention to help.  Had our nation been seeking His guidance the whole time, we wouldn’t be in this mess now.

Yesterday we commented on the Naked Body Scanners that have made their way into government vans. Today we have a new story about your Fourth Amendment being violated as the Ninth Circuit rules that government agents can legally sneak onto your property, surreptitiously plant a GPS tracking device on your car, and monitor your every movement… all without a warrant.

Government agents can sneak onto your property in the middle of the night, put a GPS device on the bottom of your car and keep track of everywhere you go. This doesn’t violate your Fourth Amendment rights, because you do not have any reasonable expectation of privacy in your own driveway – and no reasonable expectation that the government isn’t tracking your movements.

That is the bizarre – and scary – rule that now applies in California and eight other Western states. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, which covers this vast jurisdiction, recently decided the government can monitor you in this way virtually anytime it wants – with no need for a search warrant.

The Ninth Circuit actually went a bit further than necessary.  Last year I wrote about the government considering placing GPS units into your car to tax road use. Now we see a clear example of the non-tax motives for those supposedly harmless tracking devices. Soon they won’t need to sneak onto your driveway and plant the GPS, you’ll do it for them.

I said it then and I’ll repeat it again now…

But the real problem is the tracking information that will be gathered and analyzed by some government agency… the potential uses and abuses of which are mind-boggling.

For all those who thought President Bush stepped over the line by listening to one side of phone conversations with known terrorists… you haven’t seen anything yet. Just wait until they literally know every single movement you make. All of the sudden public transportation sounds a bit more viable doesn’t it?

There was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment. How often, or on what system, the Thought Police plugged in on any individual wire was guesswork. It was even conceivable that they watched everybody all the time. But at any rate they could plug in your wire whenever they wanted to. You had to live—did live, from habit that became instinct—in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized.

Sick of tired of the President and his leftists blaming Bush? We are too. They passed Obama’s so-called Recovery Act. They passed ObamaCare. They passed his tax increases. They passed his union payoffs. It’s Obama’s Economy now, so stop blaming Bush.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

The above amendment has been part of our Constitution since December 15, 1791 when the Bill of Rights was ratified by three-fourths of the states. It had it a pretty good run over the next 200 years or so, but thanks to technology and Big Brother, the Fourth Amendment is now all but dead.  You think Google Street View is bad?  You haven’t seen anything yet.

American Science & Engineering, a company based in Billerica, Massachusetts, has sold U.S. and foreign government agencies more than 500 backscatter x-ray scanners mounted in vans that can be driven past neighboring vehicles to see their contents, Joe Reiss, a vice president of marketing at the company told me in an interview. While the biggest buyer of AS&E’s machines over the last seven years has been the Department of Defense operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, Reiss says law enforcement agencies have also deployed the vans to search for vehicle-based bombs in the U.S.

It’s not the bomb’s privacy I’m worried about, its everything (and everyone) else.

The Z Backscatter Vans, or ZBVs, as the company calls them, bounce a narrow stream of x-rays off and through nearby objects, and read which ones come back. Absorbed rays indicate dense material such as steel. Scattered rays indicate less-dense objects that can include explosives, drugs, or human bodies. That capability makes them powerful tools for security, law enforcement, and border control.

It would also seem to make the vans mobile versions of the same scanning technique that’s riled privacy advocates as it’s been deployed in airports around the country. The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) is currently suing the DHS to stop airport deployments of the backscatter scanners, which can reveal detailed images of human bodies. (Just how much detail became clear last May, when TSA employee Rolando Negrin was charged with assaulting a coworker who made jokes about the size of Negrin’s genitalia after Negrin received a full-body scan.)

Will we be notified when Big Brother’s van comes roaming through the neighborhood, piercing the walls of our cars, our businesses and our homes or looking through our wives’ skirts?  I’m sure the government will swear on all things holy that they will only be deployed during a perceived security threat, but we were promised the TSA body scanners couldn’t store images and we all know that isn’t true.  A blogger who I admire has sworn off flying because of the invasion of privacy, I’ve told my wife we should do the same.  It would be our choice to avoid big brother’s privacy evaders by not going to the airport… but what choice do we have when the privacy evaders come to us?

I shudder to think that these things could be deployed in our nation, roaming our streets, searching for problems without cause, violating our privacy without warrants.  What they will do with the images isn’t the only concern, more importantly, what are we doing with our rights? Yes it is a scary time we live in, but terrorists are not our only threat.

How do corrupt democrats continue their death grip on North Carolina’s government?  Its easy when local Republican campaigns are involved in stunts like this.

If you truly believe that all publicity is good publicity, then this wasn’t a bad thing for NC House candidate Tristan Patterson. It certainly landed Mr. Patterson in the N&O, on tv, this blog, and a handful of other places where he otherwise would not have been… but in a time where voters are fed-up with this shenanigans in Washington, can a wrestling match really help your campaign? We need serious leaders tackling serious problems at all levels of government. Nothing short of our liberty is at stake. I hope Tristan Patterson is one of those serious leaders, but it will be hard to make that case if a staged wrestling match is his only thing he’s known for.

Mr. Patterson’s November opponent, Dewey Hill, has met very few bills in our corrupt Democratic controlled House that he doesn’t like. I hope Mr. Patterson is more of a serious contender than it appeared in the early minutes of his match, and pray that he is more of a serious thinker than the entire event would suggest. Unlike a pro-wrestling match, the outcome of our political races are not predetermined. Neither is the fate of our state.

Atlas Shrugs’ Pamela Geller uncovered a clip from Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the guy behind the Ground Zero Mosque, saying the United States is worse than al Qaida.

We tend to forget, in the West, that the United States has more Muslim blood on its hands than al Qaida has on its hands of innocent non Muslims. You may remember that the US-led sanctions against Iraq led to the death of over half a million Iraqi children. This has been documented by the United Nations. And when Madeleine Albright, who has become a friend of mine over the last couple of years, when she was Secretary of State and was asked whether this was worth it, said it was worth it.

This so-called “religious” leader’s contempt for the United States reminds me of another so-called “religious” leader.  When our President sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for 20 years listening to Hate America sermons, is it any wonder that Barack Obama supports this Imam too?

North Carolina’s nine military bases are home to many elite soldiers crucial to our national security. None may be more well known than Fort Bragg’s 82nd Airborne.

The 82nd is the Army’s go-to force when it needs a lot of soldiers on the ground, fast. The division is trained to deploy anywhere in the world on 18 hours’ notice.

Soldiers from the 82nd were among the first sent to Afghanistan in October 2001, after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Additional troops went to Afghanistan in 2002.

After years of service in Afghanistan, Iraq, Haiti and New Orleans, the entire 82nd Airborne is coming home.

The 82nd – 22,000 soldiers strong – is one of the Army’s workhorses in the war against terrorism, and its units have been repeatedly deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. Their return to Bragg as U.S. combat operations come to an end in Iraq marks only the second time the whole division has been at the base since 2003.

To the men and women of the 82nd Airborne, welcome home.  North Carolina is glad to have you back, and we join you in mourning the 211 soldiers from your division that will never return.  Thank you and God Bless you.  Enjoy your time stateside before the nation calls on you once again.

This isn’t about politics. This is about class. This is about appreciation for the sacrifices we will never fully understand and calling attention to those sacrifices today, tomorrow, and every day. To all those who have returned, Welcome Home. To all those yet to come, we’re waiting for you. And for those who will not return… may God forever bless you and your family. How much longer is Barack Obama going to claim that his policies are creating jobs?  Yes, the jobless losses are not as low as they were when he took office, but taking credit for that is like blaming global warming for the change of seasons… IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN ANYWAY.  If you’ve ever seen a bell curve, you understand that rate of job loss was unsustainable.  The scary part is that the opportunity to right the ship was when the jobless rate slowed, but instead it seems to be gaining traction yet again.

New U.S. claims for unemployment benefits unexpectedly climbed to a nine-month high last week, yet another setback to the frail economic recovery.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 12,000 to a seasonally adjusted 500,000 in the week ended August 14, the highest since mid-November, the Labor Department said on Thursday.

It takes time for the economy to improve.  The fallacy of the Barack Obama’s argument is that he can improve it by increasing spending, paying off unions and creating new entitlement programs.  Someone who promised unemployment wouldn’t go above 8% has no business claiming credit when the unemployment rate is nearly 10%, the real unemployment rate is between 17 and 22%, and the jobless claims continue to pour in.  Oh, and more Americans are filing for bankruptcy since bankruptcy laws changed in 2005.

So what did we get for all of Obama and the Democrat Controlled Congress’ Spending?  An environment less friendly to growth and less friendly jobs. Quite simply, they are making it worse.

They’ve spent nearly $8 trillion since 2007, including nearly $2 trillion on economic stimulus programs and an equal amount for the Troubled Asset Relief Program and similar bailouts. They’ve effectively nationalized Fortune 500 corporations, taken over the health care sector, and set the regulatory stage for more bailouts and takeovers, but the needle is still stuck. Worse, recovery isn’t likely for many months ahead because those same politicians are planning more of the same failing policies.

Consider that entrepreneurial small businesses are the job-creation machine of a free-enterprise economy. But these firms are about to get smacked with significant tax rate increases that will keep most of them struggling just to survive. President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will let the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 expire as scheduled Jan. 1, 2011. The current 33 percent tax rate on individuals will go to 36 percent, and the current 35 percent rate will increase to 39.5 percent. Those are individual rates, but the majority of small-business profits are taxed as income to individuals.

Also, an explosion of new anti-business regulations to further hobble the economy is coming soon, thanks to Obama-Reid-Pelosi policies. As ATR’s Grover Norquist told The Examiner, “You don’t know what the law will be next month, or if you will even be allowed to own your business. The only thing you can be sure of is they will raise your taxes. You would be a fool now to go out and hire somebody new.”

Not only has Obama, Pelosi & Co. not lived up to their promises of recovery, but they have created an environment that is far worse for the American worker and the business who might have otherwise hired him.  In good conscious they cannot claim they have improved on anything, its only gotten worse.  Maybe more Americans will wake up and realize that our flirtations with socialism, government interference, and an entitlement program for every outstretched hand has got to stop.

By the way, the unemployment rate when Bush left office was 7.1%.  If Barack Obama wants to compare jobless numbers then and now, I think Bush has him beat.

Nancy Pelosi said she wanted to investigate the people opposing the Ground Zero Mosque. Go ahead Nancy, investigate me and the nearly 70% of other American who oppose building a Victory Mosque near Ground Zero. You may have forgotten the attack Americans suffered that day, but the rest of us never will.
