Why Bankrupting Coal Plants Matters

Around 50% of our nations electricity comes from coal.  So when Barack Obama calls for bankrupting coal plants, and skyrocketing electricity rates it matters.  It will matter when your already high electric bills goes up.  It will matter when people in Ohio, Colorado, Indiana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and elsewhere are looking for jobs.  It will matter when the increase in energy costs cause the price of goods and services to go up, just like happened when oil prices rose to new highs this summer.  It will matter when your stocks in energy companies drop, taking your retirement or pension plan with it.

Coal isn’t even the only energy source in Barack Obama’s sights.

  • Barack Obama called natural gas “dirty,” and said we didn’t need “dirty” energy sources.  Natural Gas is actually very clean, but Barack Obama has never really been a master of facts, has he?

No coal, no natural gas, no nuclear, no oil.  Corn-based ethanol is a joke.  What’s left?  Super expensive energy made by unreliable wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric?  None of the technologies are there yet, and even if they were, they are not reliable or efficient.  The cost of moving away from sources of energy that actually work will be billions and billions of taxpayer dollars, loss of jobs for people in the energy sector and “skyrocketing energy prices.”

Sounds like a good prescription for a struggling economy and rising unemployment rate to me. Yeah, right.

Pay attention folks, this is real.  Barack Obama admitted to a San Fransisco audience that he wants to use taxes to destroy companies and industries he doesn’t like.  What’s next?  If he will further destroy the American economy and energy sector in order to “bankrupt” coal companies, what will happen to our guns, fast food, bloggers, talk radio, non-union companies, small businesses?

Bankrupting coal companies is bad enough.  It will destroy our economy, our electric grid and our family budgets.  But it also points out an even greater problem with the fraud that is Barack Obama, who believes in an authoritarian governance that will destroy everything he doesn’t like.  If he gets power, we will all suffer.  Financially we will suffer.  Jobs will be lost.

Bankrupting coal plants will be even more devastating to Ohio, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia and North Carolina.

Not only will each of these states suffering drastically if Barack Obama “bankrupts” coal plants, but hundreds of thousands of jobs will be lost.  Each of these states, and many others have large economies based around coal mining and coal-based electricity.  If Barack Obama is able to “bankrupt” coal plants and cause energy prices to “skyrocket,” what will be next?
