Who Cares About the Constitution Anyway?

Apparently Democrats do not.  At least that’s the signal they are sending by adding a House of Representatives member for the District of Columbia.

The only way for the District to legally get a vote in Congress is of course through Constitutional Amendment.

Article I, Section 2 of the Constitution, which says members of the House should be chosen “by the people of the several states.” The District of Columbia, of course, is not a state.

But why worry about the Constitution when you control the House, the Senate and the White House?  Apparently that’s the attitude of many lawmakers and the Obama administration who are hoping to ram this little bit of legislation through.

Hugh Hewitt is right, every state in the union should appeal this to the Supreme Court, as adding this new vote in the house diminishes all other votes (the more pieces of the pie there are, the smaller the slices become).  Thus, my home state of North Carolina, and every other state in the union has a slightly smaller voice because the Democrats have thrown the Constitution out the window in order to gain a little more power.

And no, I’m not pleased because Utah will get another vote too.  No one should be.  This kind of horsetrading is what caused the fiscal mess our country is currently in.  You don’t accept one bad behavior because someone has given you a taste of your own.  Its nothing more than bribery and it should not be tolerated.  The Constitution should be the first and last arbiter on issues such as this… but when the collective body of Congress can’t be bothered to read trillion dollar spending bills before voting for them, do you really think they’ve taken the time to read the Constitution?
