Apparently the gloves did come off, and Barack Obama released an add today attacking John McCain for not using e-mail, and apparently, for being old.
Considering its difficult, if not impossible, for John McCain to type on a computer thanks to his injuries from Vietnam, I guess its no surprise he doesn’t e-mail much.
McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain’s encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He’s an avid fan – Ted Williams is his hero – but he can’t raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.
I guess attacking someone who can’t type for not being e-mail proficient is no different than asking a guy in a wheelchair to stand up.
I can’t wait until the election is over and these two go home. Prepared to lead? Judgment to lead? They make fun of a guy who can’t type because of injuries he received serving his country, and ask a paraplegic to stand-up. Are these guys really that far out of touch?
Of course you won’t hear any of this on the news. They are too busy beating up Sarah Palin for having the audacity to pray for our troops. What nerve.
UPDATE: John McCain may not e-mail but apparently the Obama campaign doesn’t know how to use Google or Lexus Nexis. The Boston Globe and Forbes had a story about McCain not being able to type in 2000. I’m sure there are others.

[...] he “can’t use e-mail.” Of course he can’t use e-mail, he can’t type. He can’t type because he spent five years in a Viet Cong box being tortured as a POW. Much different life experience than a guy who travels to Bali to write one of his two [...]
