While we’re watching all the madness ensue from the AIG Bonuses, the real problem in Washington is happening away from view. Make no mistake, Washington knew about these bonuses months ago… but the outrage now distracts from the real, more serious issues.
What is really maddening? How AIG has been used as a clearing house to funnel bailout money to other banks, many of which are in foreign countries.
But that’s not all. Yesterday Obama hit the stage to talk about his pork-laden, socialist-driven, universal health care wanting, cap and trade including budget plan. While we’re all outtraged over AIG bonuses, he’s going to try and slip his budget boondoggle passed us in the dark of night. He’ll likely even try to use the AIG bonuses to propel his cause… these are the excesses he inherited… only his budget and new government plans will fix this mess in the future… or some garbage like that.
But remember, it is Barack Obama who told us not to be sidelined by the little problems in his so-called stimulus bill or omnibus spending package, and to focus on the big picture. We were told not to pay attention to Hundreds of Millions or Billions in Pork because it was a small part of the $700-$800 Stimulus plan. Funny, now all he wants us to pay attention to is $165 Million in Bonuses for AIG out of the Billions upon Billions AIG actually has received. I guess its okay to focus on the “small stuff” now that its convenient.
No more bailouts! No more government interference into markets that are supposed to be free. The only way to stop the excesses with tax payer money is to never give them any in the first place. But make no mistake, while Barack Obama is trying to get you riled up about a few million in bonuses over here, he’s pushing through hundreds of billions of dollars in bigger government and socialist programs over there. Don’t be fooled by this slight of hand.
It feels as though there is a witch hunt going on Congress. The folks that earned the retention compensation (bonuses) are Americans too. Why does the Democratic Congress continue to react publicly and never ask the real questions of how we got in this mess?
How can we, as Americans, agree to setting a presidence by targeting a select group of Tax paying Americans?
