You don’t need me to tell you this so-called “stimulus” or “recovery” package is a fraud. You know it. We all know it. Water parks, sod, STD testing, etc. won’t revitalize our economy. Little if anything in this pork-laced scam will. But the package isn’t the only fraud being propped up by the Obama White House. As slimy as the piggish package itself is, the way it has been sold to the people with a promise of jobs may be an even bigger fraud.
Towards the end of the campaign and continuing through the transition, Barack Obama promised to create jobs. At one point it was 2 million jobs. Then it was 3 million jobs. Then it was 3-4 million jobs. The goal posts kept moving, the promises becoming ever so sweet. And then, something changed. While most American stopped paying attention to the nuance, a couple words were added to the promise changing its meaning entirely. As Press Secretary Gibbs corrected a reporter in yesterday’s briefing, no longer is the promise to create 3-4 million jobs, the promise is now to create or save 3-4 million jobs. See the difference?
Either promise is a sham, but changing the verbiage to “create or save” is equivalent to a two-headed coin. No matter where we land, it comes up heads for President Obama. If somehow, despite his $825 Billion Pork-A-Palooza, 4 Million jobs are created… then heads he wins. But what if only two million jobs are created? What if no jobs are created? What if 20 million jobs are lost? Regardless of the outcome, the Obama administration has now set the stage to claim victory. No matter how many jobs are won or lost, they will be able to say that 3-4 million fewer jobs would exist if not for them. Of course no one can prove otherwise, and that’s the point.
Most Americans get their news in random snippets and sound bytes. And 3.5 years from now as Obama campaigns for re-election… regardless of the state of the economy, he will tell you how he created or saved 3-4 million jobs. They’ll play clips from Obama or Gibbs saying “create or save” and then trot out some liberal leftist to tell you how much worse it would have been without the ObamaMessiah’s foresight and help.
They’ve already editted the script and written the final chapter. No matter what happens in our economy, they will claim victory. The question is will the Lemmings and the press still buy it… or will we finally pull the wool from our eyes? Time will tell, but as far as Obama’s adimistration is concerned, the outcome is now certain.
