The full Senate just approved Timothy Geithner to be the Treasury Secretary by a vote of 60-34. Sixty Senators approved this guy who perpetrated a fraud on the IRS or wasn’t smart enough to understand tax policy… to lead the IRS and our financial system. A guy who signed a form and was given additional funds to pay his taxes while working for the IMF, but instead pocked the tax money as additional revenue.
Somehow I think if I did that, I’d wind up in jail… or at the very least with a very stiff fine. Yet we are supposed to believe this tax cheat is the only man smart enough to lead our nation out of financial turmoil. Smart enough to end this historic recession, but not intelligent enough to properly file and pay his taxes.
Ummmm… ok.
So much for a government of change. Sounds like business as usual to me. Once again Washington gets to play by its own rules and no one takes personal responsibility… meanwhile the rest of us, once again, get hosed.

I once said the same thing – if I didn’t pay my taxes, I’d be jailed. Yet, President Obama said that this guy made “an innocent mistake.” Okay, then I think the rest of us should be able to have one freebie as well. Our government is supposed to lead by example. Some example they’re setting.
