I find it fitting that Senator Jesse Helms joins company with Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, taking his final breath on the Fourth of July. Much like Jefferson and Adams before him, Senator Helms was an unabashed patriot and considered service to his country a most profound and solemn duty. Senator Helms was always honest in his dealings and steadfast in his beliefs. He fought hard against the tides of Communism and was a champion of Conservative ideals, smaller government, and fiscal responsibility. You may not agree with everything he believed, but you always knew where he stood… that’s more than you can say for virtually all politicians of today (especially those running for the highest office).
Considering the direction our country appears to be taking… with a liberal and a socialist competing for the Presidency and promises of bigger government, open borders and socialism all around… maybe its best that Jesse saw one more Independence Day before retiring to a kingdom above. Senator, keep pulling for us and our country… we’ll keep praying for you and your family. With you there and us down here, maybe we can stop the forces of evil one more time.

Great Jesse Helms Quote:
“Compromise, hell!” Helms once wrote. “That’s what has happened to us all down the line — and that’s the very cause of our woes. If freedom is right and tyranny is wrong, why should those who believe in freedom treat it as if it were a roll of bologna to be bartered a slice at the time?”
