I’m not sure if MoveOn.org knew what happened. Their people were there, organized by “Community Organizers” such as ACORN and funded by MoveOn.org, George Soros and his ilk… yet they were quite literally surrounded by a grassroots group of ordinary citizens who got the call from a number of local patriots. If “We Surround Them” is the mantra of the grassroots uprising, then it certainly held true today.
There was a little nastiness (mostly from MoveOn people), but mostly there was healthy debate. Clearly the counter–protesting patriots were more knowledgeable about the realities of ObamaCare, while the MoveOn crowd was either less well-read or just surprised by an informed, contrary view. Either way, things were going well until the cops stepped in and made the groups separate, stating we were blocking the sidewalk and building entrance. They pushed the MoveOn crowd to the street corner and our counter-protest back in the grass. Even though we couldn’t “surround them” anymore, we still made our opinions clear. Our group sang “God Bless America”, “My Country ‘Tis of Thee”, and chanted loud enough against ObamaCare and socialized medicine for Kay Hagan’s staff to hear our every word. MoveOn? I’m not sure what they were doing.

The view as I approached the protest, already underway.

UPDATE: According to Monica who e-mailed Michelle Malkin, we outnumbered the MoveOn crowd by 4:1. Not sure if she was talking about the Greensboro rally or Raleigh one, but I don’t doubt it. ADDED: By her pictures, I think Monica must have been at the Greensboro rally, but we were strong in Raleigh too. Glad to know we had the state covered!
UPDATE x 2: More photos and details of the Raleigh Counter-Protest at North Carolina TEA Party Revolution. AND, even more at NC Freedom.

Ooooh, you surrounded us. You “outnumbered” us. At one protest. But you don’t outnumber us nationally. And you can’t deny the wishes of the American people. We’re winning. There WILL be health care reform with a STRONG public option. Teabag THAT.
Nice on-campus IP, what are you some college student still living off Mommy and Daddy’s dime? Or is the American taxpayer paying for your education just like you expect us to pay for your health care?
We DO outnumber you nationally. And the American People DO NOT want socialized medicine. You might get it, but not because the masses want it, but rather because the leftists have succeeded in their powergrab. America will regret the day it passes socialized medicine… and if you ever become a taxpayer, small-business owner or employer… you likely will too.
Great job. I want conservatives in this state to organize massive rallies at all of Hagan’s offices prior to the vote.
We also need to get at least 10,000 sigs on a petition.
I am willing to dedicate the next month of my life to this effort.
Please email me.
Nordstrom take note:
You ARE outnumbered, you ARE surrounded, and you know nothing about the wishes or will of real Americans. The “real Americans” I’m referring to are the ones carrying the water for those who are unable or unwilling to carry it themselves.
Nearly half of Americans pay no income taxes, and half of those or better are actually taking more from the IRS than they pay in annually through so-called “earned income credits”. If you have paid attention to the various TEA Parties, you may have noted that segment of the electorate was in NONE of the photographs or videos. Go figure…
Now do you really think the other half of the electorate is going to continue to foot all the bills? Hardly.
Repudiate the fallacies of fiat currency and phantom economics before it is too late.
So Einstein, what do you think the eventual outcome is going to be when “Enough is Enough” get transformed from words into action?
Are you simpletons going to mobilize the illegitimate social welfare recipients into a formidable voting block (or anything else for that matter)?
Perhaps you’ll rally an army of liberals to fight your battles? Good luck with that! One they feel the pinch in their own pocketbooks they’ll be singing the praises of conservative thinkers. (Liberals are a fickle bunch once the money they spend becomes their own).
What you are setting up here is exactly what is called for to get this nation back on course.
Unwittingly, you and your kind are shining the spotlight on all the cockroaches in the halls of government, and bringing about a renewed interest in fair and just taxation and representation. For that I applaud you, because at some point even the poor are going to get on board our movement. Many will do so because the policies you support are making poor people out of the working class, and many will do so because in the end they will have no where else to turn.
You Nordstrom are a loser of the worst kind, and I encourage you to keep taunting and sniping from your perch in the hall of shame. We need such examples to refresh us, and remind us what we might become if we simply do nothing….
BTW- You may have noticed the symbolic teabags are rare these days. Patriots are learning to work the fields with different tools, and the harvest is increasing.
It’s really sickening what these astro-turfed communists will do to steal from others.
Dirty Soros communist money is what is driving them, and they are just hurting themselves with dictator Obama’s failed policies.
This is euthanasia folks!
This latest scam called “healthcare” by Emperor Obama in just another way to seize even more power and control over America by the National-Socialist party, as well as buy votes & support from the party’s constituents at the expense of people who don’t sit on their asses.
The moveon crowd is just another bunch of the pathetic lemmings who obediently support any and all crap their party commands them to. They think they are very smart when they mindlessly regurgitate the current National-Socialist party official line, but it was Vladimir I. Lenin who referred to this Western socialists, etc. as “Polyezneh Idioti”, i.e., USEFUL IDIOTS!
While they parrot their official talking points, we know that of there is NO “healthcare crisis” When about 80% of Americans answer that there is a “healthcare crisis” in polls, but a similar number, over 80% say that THEIR healthcare is OK, we know that the so-called “crisis” is nothing more than a perception created by the endless drumbeating by the National-Socialist party of Obama/Pelosi/Reid and their mouthpieces in Big Media.
WE know that of “…45 million Americans without health insurance…” about 45% of them are people who CAN afford insurance but exercise their CHOICE to put this money elsewhere–typically luxuries–and about a third of this group are illegal aliens, people who should go back home and stop pushing our citizens out of their jobs by undercutting them for wages.
Wanna improve healthcare’s bang for the buck? Reign in the trial lawyers support in full by the Democratic party and stop providing free healthcare (and schooling, etc.) for illegal aliens.
Healthcare:
Why does Congress exempt and Federal Employees? The new verson should cover everyone.
Could this new healthcare plan be legalized euthenasia except for government employees? Rationed healthcare means WAITING lines for treatment and tests. More will die sooner. which reduces medicare expenses and ends social security benefits sooner?
It is just a slow Aschwitz.
Please don’t spend so much time refuting idiots who post from their mothers basement. Let’s stay focused on what we know to be the right thing to do. Patriots are rising up to “No you Can’t” to Obama. Keep the faith.
I see an awful lot of name calling and personal attacks in these comments.
“illegitimate social welfare recipients … astro-turfed communists … Dirty Soros communist money … National-Socialist party of Obama/Pelosi/Reid … You Nordstrom are a loser of the worst kind … Emperor Obama ….etc …etc … etc …”
Perhaps it’s just the nature of these things. I pick up the same tone from the Left when I try and read comments on a liberal blog like ThinkProgress (although not quite to this degree, I must say). Since Health Care is such an important issue, maybe we could try and stick to a rational exchange of ideas?
(but somehow I doubt it) …

It was a great day, I snapped a photo of our guy reading the riot act to moveon.org leader that day. All their leader could say was I understand sir!

Thanks, John, for your thoughts. That being said, what is your opinion of the “public policy option” aka Medicare-for-all? I personally believe it would drive the companies providing an affordable, available product/service of ‘healthcare insurance’ out of business and more than triple the number of Americans without healthcare insurance. Forcing these folks and/or their employers to accept Medicare-for-all, they would soon be subjected to rationing similar to the 36 nations in world with some sort of ‘universal health care’. And at what cost? Freedom loss, exponentially expanding federal deficits–I believe that Medicare-for-all would surpass all other federal outlays COMBINE in less that one generation–and rationing. Those with material wealth would still have access to the best available healthcare with littlle or no wait and no rationing. I HOPE the Statists in DC fail! PTRNG P.S. Sorry; could not help myself; had to use at least one disparaging term! Are you a Statist? Or a Patriot? I am a conservative-with-libertarian-sleaning Tea Party Patriot!
Peter,
I’m sure I agree with you in that we would all like to see the highest level of care for the largest number of people, but probably don’t see eye to eye on how we best get there. I think our current system takes care of those who can afford health care at a level of care that is unrivaled around the world and I have been a beneficiary of world class care my entire life. But I also know that the status quo of our health care system is rife with very, very large problems, it contains a lot of rationing and is completely unsustainable. The insurance companies are inherently corrupt, the US is subsidizing the cost of drug development for the rest of the world, and employer based insurance decreases our ability to compete with other nations in the manufacturing sectors. I believe that if unaddressed, these problems will degrade the quality of care for a large number of Americans over a very short time period.
While I believe change is already happening in the private sector and more is inevitable and I do think a public option can play a positive and central role in that change going forward. Having said that, let me qualify that I strongly believe that “Hillary Care” would have been an absolute disaster. That bill as it was presented (all 100k+ pages if you can believe it) would have inserted a huge layer of legal bureaucracy between doctors and patients, assuring little to no cost savings while decreasing the level of care. I hope Obama heeds some of the important lessons regarding arrogance from that failed effort. And I hope that the public sees through the efforts of entrenched interests to yield undue influence through high paid lobbyists and scare tactics and that they demand a responsible examination of how best to structure a public option that protects patient choice.
best,
john
“Ooooh, you surrounded us. You “outnumbered” us. At one protest. But you don’t outnumber us nationally. And you can’t deny the wishes of the American people. We’re winning. There WILL be health care reform with a STRONG public option. Teabag THAT.”
I really think that Nordstrom should have ended this post with, “I’ll get you, American Elephant, and your little dog too!”
Dear John (feeling the love yet?),
While you cleverly (in your own mind at least) attempted to divert the discussion into a liberal debate by left-handedly accusing me of name calling as bait, you seemingly failed to notice I was referring to exactly what I described in the segment of commentary you cropped out of context. I suspect you know the meaning of the word illegitimate?
Just in case the picture is still a little cloudy for you, let me clarify for you whom it was I specifically quantified. I was speaking of lazy, unmotivated, welfare dependent social misfits of any color or gender who are physically capable of manual labor, and competent enough mentally to actually hold a job. Please accept my apology if that is inadvertently offensive to you, anyone in your family, circle of friends, or clientele.
As far as my remark concerning “losers of the worst kind”, I think I may have misspoke in my haste to make a point. I actually overlooked a far worse class of loser; the pandering intellectual statist angling for openings.
Why is it liberals, statists, Marxists, and others of questionable character or moral fiber always perceive debate is appropriate? Must we always debate until we soften our position and “see things their way”? Seems akin to nagging doesn’t it?
What is it about the word “NO” that invites debate? I don’t interpret it that way….but then I got spanked as a youth when I misbehaved and the paddle didn’t negotiate from it’s position of strength. I suppose I must have been scarred for life by those traumatic experiences and have a distorted perception of right and wrong as an adult. John would probably say so….
In response to John:
While I admire your tone, we conservatives in ObamaUSA are growing tired of being doormats for the MSM and political elite. In the past, I’ve tried to have a free and open debate with liberals on many subjects and it doesn’t take long before I’m referred to as a Nazi, a war-mongor, a homophobe, a sexist, stupid, religious fanatic, exploiter of the poor, destroyer of the environment, don’t care about the poor, etc. etc.
What we quickly learn is the liberals are oblivious to the hatred that they spew towards us. They take any criticism of Obama as inherently racist and call us traitors for wanting our esteemed leader to fail at massive government takeovers. They have no recollection of Bush being called all of the things I described above including a liar on the War while our troops are in harms way.
So I’d be happy to debate any liberal Democrat anytime, anywhere on any subject. But I’ll be damned if I’m going to bend over and let them define me as something I’m not.
We can address the cost and accessibility issues of Healthcare reform for the 20% of people it’s a problem for without overhauling the entire system and damaging it for all participants. That is to say, fairness does not mean spreading the misery around to all participants.
It cracks me up to see the liberals nearly catatonic with shock that anyone would disagree with their position on health care, or anything that king o and his minions would want to inflict on the United States of America.
To say that conservatives and libertarians do not represent the majority of the country only goes to show that they are so far out of touch with reality that they may as well live in Russia or China. Spewing the nonsense they have committed to memory for the paltry few bucks they were bribed with only makes it clear that they have never really listened or studied the issues first hand.
I am a product of the Viet Nam era. I was a teenager during the late 60’s and early 70’s and learned about protests first hand. Most of us who were around then have grown up into conservative middle age, but we still know how to throw a protest. More power to all of us who are willing to stand up for what is right. These delicate liberals just won’t be able to stand the heat, mainly because they will have to use logic and intelligence to make their point. The right will win every time.
king o and his minions may be book smart (though that is debatable in any number of ways) but common sense seems to have taken flight from their tiny minds. I lived in both communist and socialist countries, I know first hand what socialized medicine is like. I nearly died because it took SIX MONTHS to see a cardiologist. Hence the three heart attacks in one day, and emergency surgery. I was then told, if I wanted a follow up in under six months after MAJOR surgery, I would have to have another heart attack and the doctor would see me in hospital. And it wasn’t free, over ten percent of our yearly earnings went to cover the cost of all of those people to lazy to get off the dole and actually earn a living. Now, the cost from our earnings in the health tax would be nearer twenty percent. Oh, yeah, tax and spend Obama. Like the sign said, One Bad Ass Mistake America. Pelosi, Reed, Frank, and all the other minions are even worse. Obama is stupid and gutless, but the others are down right monstrous.

This was a great day. I wish I would have known about this earlier so I could have been there. We have the right to be mad and yell loud but we need to take the high road. Please remember that we are from the south and name calling is just not polite here. All this will do is ignite the other side. A true patriot should not have to belittle himself or herself by such actions but use truth as the sword.
We are at the epicenter of a paradigm swing and we do have to be warriors for our constitution which is the BEST human document for framing a government that has ever been written by man. People have died so that we and people like the ones with Moveon can express their beliefs. Please use your energy to learn real facts and to cut with your truth sword not a vulgar tongue this will tarnish the entire movement which is really starting to work. Let’s not shoot ourselves in the foot. O.K.? We need to recruit everyone to the cause of saving this great nation. Let’s represent ourselves in the right fashion. The left is well on the way to tarnishing themselves by themselves. Let’s keep up the pressure and push in the accelerator and win back America to the way our founders intended.
There were probably people with Moveon there who might have been converted to common sense if we had only tried. They are probably receiving a pay check to be there. You were there because you are a true patriot and you probably have a little more going on upstairs. Think about it. If you are in a room of 10 people if you can convert 3 of these and they can convert 3 people each after they go away then 9 people have been converted and with you that makes 10. Before you know it the truth has prevailed and no yelling was neccessary. 9 out of 10 people have been converted and will probably continue to work for the cause.
People need to always be peaceful especially on our side. We do not have the propiganda unit called the media going for us. Somebody said that we have them surrounded if we can just get our buch off the couch. The new media will ALWAYS be against common sense. Common sense when you speak makes you a PRUDE. Nobody wants to hear a yelling prude especially one you could talk sense to and win over. Nothing lasting will come from yelling and violence. This will hurt our effort. Our anscesters have already won us the 5th ammendment right of free speech. We simply need to express it, recruit others to express it, get the ones too chicken to express it to wake up,poke the ones in the gut who are too lazy, and get busy.
Thanks. Get mad. Speak softly. Carry the swift sword of truth,
Mad Mike
A “rational exchange of ideas” is code language for compromise. When it comes to liberty and freedom, there should be no compromise. When you compromise about liberty, it just means they took a little freedom instead of a lot. The vast majority of people that do not have insurance can trace their problem to a decision or a series of decisions in their life. Whether it be not going to college, not showing up for work and getting fired, being a small business owner, or whatever. Yes-there are some people that have been layed off and unfortunately lost their insurance. And we could possibly come up with a program that helps these folks out. But-the answer is NOT to depend on government to provide long term health care options. The government can’t run anything right. Why in God’s name would anyone turn over their healthcare to ANY politician-democrat OR republican? Our politicians have become corrupted by power-republicans and democrats alike. Obama doesn’t care about our health-he cares about POWER! Anyone who supports a government-run health care system should take a look at other socialist nation’s systems. THAT is what will become of us. I’ll even give Obama the benefit of the doubt and say that he will run the system justly and humanely(which I seriously doubt). But-what about the next president? Will he run it as well? For those liberals out there reading this-do you want a republican to be in control of your healthcare? Think about it, because your hero Obama has done more to solidify this nation’s conservatives than any republican ever has. And I can assure you that we are gonna do everything in our power to make sure that Obama does NOT get another term in the White House. Don’t get the idea(like Nordstrom there) that you out number us because you won the election. The ONLY reason Hussein won is because our own party turned it’s back on us somewhere along the line. But your pal Obama has reminded us that elections have consequences and we cannot afford to sit on the bench at election time. And incidently-if this joke of a healthcare program gets put into effect, I hope every liberal out there that pushed for it reaps the consequences.
