*** UPDATE: Photos from the July 29 Raleigh Protest are here.
It’s time to protest President Barack Obama’s government takeover of health care again… and this time he’ll know we are there. President Obama is set to speak at Broughton High School in Raleigh, North Carolina on Wednesday at 11:45. Protests were planned close to the High School, but in continued efforts of government transparency and access to all citizens (yeah right), the Secret Service is forcing protesters farther away from the event. Interestingly enough, MoveOn.org gets a site closer to President Obama’s town hall meeting than the opposition does… I wonder why?
If you are coming out to protest ObamaCare in Raleigh tomorrow, here are a few tips that have been passed around through various blogs and websites (linked at the end).
- Be Early! Doors open at 9:30am and the town hall meeting starts at 11:45. Come whenever you can, but 9:30 to 10:30am seems to the consensus.
- It may rain… but rain or shine, it will be hot. Wear comfortable clothes, comfortable shoes, and be prepared to get wet. Bring an umbrella if you like (but make sure its red, white and blue!)
- Bring signs, American flags, megaphones, etc.
- Remember the lyrics to God Bless America and other patriotic songs. Every protest I’ve been to recently has found itself in song.
- Be informed. Here are some good questions if you encounter the opposition.
- Be civil. The media and the leftists always show up soon after a protest to claim we are all evil and disrespectful. Its not true. Don’t give them evidence to the contrary.
- After the protest watch the news, listen to radio, check the blogs. Don’t let them misrepresent the truth after the protest is over.
Where? Police have asked like-minded patriots to congregate at the corner Smallwood and Sutton (see map below).

The local media will be watching. National media will be watching. Our representatives *should* be watching. Please join us and make your voice heard!
Blog updates will be difficult during the day… but follow American Elephant on twitter (twitter name: AmericaElephant). I’ll tweet when I can throughout the protest. My phone’s camera isn’t the best so there may not be live twitter photos from the event… but I’ll bring a second camera and post photos at AmericanElephant.com following the protest.
Every single sign and every single voice can make a difference. Please join us if you can. And if you are curious why I’ll be protesting, read this.
