Barack Obama spent his DNC acceptance speak touting his “judgment”, famously saying that if John McCain wanted to have a debate on who has the temperament and “judgment to serve as the next Commander-in-Chief, that’s a debate [he is] ready to have.”
Barack Obama wants Americans to *think* he has the judgment to lead, but does he really?
On August 16th, Barack Obama was asked at the Saddleback forum “at what point does a baby get human rights in your view?” Senator Obama responded that the question was “above [his] pay grade.”
Today (three weeks later) Barack Obama said in an interview to ABC News that the answer was too “flip” and he wished he had worded it differently. After three weeks of reading the press, studying polls, and talking to campaign advisors, Barack Obama finally has a better answer. I guess we should be impressed that it only took three weeks.
The question is, what does that say about his judgment? The purpose of the theoretical 3am phone call is that a President has to make tough decisions at a moments notice. There’s not three weeks to talk to pollsters and confer with your staff to craft every message or every decision. But if it takes three weeks to answer a question regarding abortion, something he had voted on and spoke about in the Illinois state Senate previously, than how long will it take to react to the unknown or the unanticipated attack?
We heard the Obama campaign dismiss his abysmal performace at Saddleback by accusing John McCain of cheating (B.S.). And we’ve seen what happens to Barack Obama when his teleprompter goes on the fritz. Now we’ve heard him take three weeks to craft the answer to a question that everyone has been talking about.
He didn’t figure out he was in the wrong church for twenty years. It took constant questions from his opponents and citizens to realize that it wasn’t a good idea to sit in the pew and listen to a pastor say G-D America and blame our country for starting the AIDS virus to kill Africans.
He didn’t have the judgment to forsee that starting his campaign with a fundraiser at the unrepentant terrorist William Ayers’ home was probably not a good idea.
He didn’t have the judgment or forsight to see that replacing the American flag on the tail of his plane with his own logo probably sent the wrong message.
…
If Iran attacks Israel or Russia invades another sovereign country… if we experience a biological, chemical or other form of terrorist attack in this country… if a natural disaster devastates a major U.S. city or a tragic accident falls upon our nation… does Barack Obama have the judgment to lead?
If it takes him three weeks to answer a question he should have been prepared for, how long will it take him to react to the unknown? Presidents don’t have the ability to rewind, second guess, or spend three weeks consulting with campaign advisors before making a decision.
Barack Obama has once again proven he DOES NOT have the judgment to lead. When will he realize that? When will America?
