Like Brad Miller, many other representatives are refusing to hold open Town Hall meetings to hear from constituents. Funny, I don’t remember Republican congressmen avoiding the public when Code Pink and MoveOn.org were protesting them and President Bush… but the Democrats can’t seem to handle dissent. Don’t let them shut you down. THEY WORK FOR US. Demand that your voice is heard, your questions are answered and that your representative explains their support or opposition to ObamaCare. Government Health Care will be the single largest expansion of government powers and intrusion of government influence into our lives. If you value individual liberty, personal responsibility and making health care decisions with your family and doctor instead of some government worker… you must oppose these plans. Once ObamaCare is passed, it will be too late.
And if your representative is not holding a Town Hall meeting, flood their offices with your phone calls, your e-mails, your faxes and your letters. Show up and demand they hear from you. These people are supposed to be beholden to the people, not lobbyists or political parties. Be respectful. Be civil. But demand that you are heard.

They don’t work JUST for you they work for everyone, whether it be Democrats, Liberals, Conservatives, Constitutionalists or whatever. If you are opposing something and a group opposes you they are responsible for making a compromise. They aren’t responsible for doing everything you say they have to represent everyone.
Thanks for the civics lesson (albeit an incomplete one). They do work for ALL of the people. Not sure how they can HEAR from all of the people if they aren’t listening. Not sure how they can know what WE THE PEOPLE want if they won’t talk to us in open town hall meetings, take our phone calls, allow us to visit. I never said they are responsible for doing everything I say did I? They are responsible at the very core for preserving and protecting the United States Constitution though. I’ll settle for that.
You need to look into the definition of “socialized” because the way you are using it is totally wrong —- There is no “take over” of the health care system being proposed under any of the 5 bills now before Congress — But you knew that, didn’t you? —- Sleep well.

I have read tons of information about the various bills and plans before Congress, including the parts they have released. CLEARLY IT IS SOCIALISM. Maybe you should read the plans yourself instead of regurgitating Obama’s talking points.

Darrell, you must be getting your info from the govt controlled networks. Guess what, the house bill states that any company providing health ins.will be legally required, within a specified time period, move their employees into a “govt approved” plan. Later it states that anyone without a “govt approved” plan will be fined by the IRS and immediately enrolled in the govt plan. Furthermore, the proposed bill states, on page 16, that you can keep your current plan until something in the plan changes, i.e. deductible change, price change, any kind of coverage change, etc… at that time you will be required to enroll in the govt plan. HOW IS THAT NOT GOVT TAKEOVER OF THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM?
It simply AMAZES me how all the people who voted for the libs fall for every line that comes out of the current Imposter in Chief’s mouth (I don’t think of him as President because I have not yet seen the proof that he is eligible to hold that Office). Those same lib voters are the ones who treated Bush like a moron for ANY little slip of his tongue, and the lib-controlled MainStream Media happily joked about the newest “Bushism” on the evening news reports.
Where is the outrage about the lies (which started from DAY ONE of the campaign trail), the concern about actions he’s taken both BEFORE being sworn in (Has ANY previous President-ELECT ever used the term “Office of the President-ELECT” before? NOPE, NOT ONE EVER! When has ANY previous presidential candidate been allowed to BLOCK ACCESS to documents that should be PUBLIC RECORD? Again, the answer is NEVER!) and SINCE he was sworn in (like taking over a PRIVATE COMPANY then FIRING THE CEO – WHEN was that EVER a power of the President? Again, the answer is NEVER!)? The reason there aren’t any cries of outrage from the lib voters is because HE’S ONE OF THEIRS SO NOTHING HE CAN SAY OR DO WOULD BE SEEN AS WRONG.
Ok, here’s a question for you: Congress instituted Term Limits for the President in order to keep a “popular” president from becoming a life-long dictator or king. Why did they not use the same logic to put Term Limits on Congressional Seats (Sentars and Representatives)?!?!?!?!?!
There are Senators and Representatives who have been in office AS LONG AS or LONGER THAN I HAVE BEEN ALIVE (such as Arlen “JFK Magic Bullet” Spector, Ted “Chappaquiddick” Kennedy, and Robert “KKK” Byrd)! How is that FAIR IN ANY WAY to the PEOPLE OF AMERICA? Those are just a FEW of THE MOST CORRUPT politicians in office. Because of politicians like the ones I named, and others who have served too many terms (IMHO: any longer than 2 terms is TOO LONG), many people who have wanted to be able to take their turn in Washington were unable to do so.
From what I’ve seen, heard, and read about, those long-term politicians have passed more bills to help their “special interest groups” or lobbyists (and in turn help their own wallets) instead of helping the people they are supposed to represent (the PUBLIC who HIRED them through voting).
I say that Term Limits need to be used for ALL LEVELS and OFFICES of government (even at the city/county/state levels). And the idea of Supreme Court judges having a lifetime position seems VERY unfair, because MANY of those judges over the decades have had 25, 30, 35, 40, or even 45 YEARS in that job. And many of the past judges have been either corrupt, overly biased, or both. I thought the job of a judge was to be IMPARTIAL, and to decide the case on the merits of the FACTS not on their individual BIASES…
And another thing: what’s up with the payscale for Senators and Representatives? They get paid MUCH MORE than the AVERAGE WORKING CITIZEN whom they are supposed to “represent”. How can they, with their “wealth”, understand what an “average” citizen wants or needs? What gives them (Congress) the RIGHT to vote for their own pay-raises while the rest of us “working” citizens face PAY-CUTS?!?!?!?!? Government officials should ONLY receive pay equal to the AVERAGE OF ALL WORKING AMERICANS, and payraises should be a PUBLIC VOTE for the CITIZENS to decide, not the politicians! And we need to put an end to the lifetime pension plan for politicians which pays them THE SAME RATE THEY HAD WHILE THEY HELD THEIR OFFICE until they die. WTF?!?!?!?!?!
Washington wonders where the damn debt comes from… I’ll tell you where it comes from: ABSOLUTELY STUPID SPENDING… Politician salaries, Welfare payments to people who are physically ABLE to work but REFUSE to, “International Aid” payments to countries who WOULD NEVER SEND MONEY TO AMERICA IF WE WERE EVER IN NEED, etc.
And now they think they can put our healthcare into their hands? Not while I still breathe!
