If Arlen Specter’s character was unimpeachable, why did he promise not to leave the party last month?
I am staying a Republican because I think I have an important role, a more important role, to play there. The United States very desperately needs a two-party system. That’s the basis of politics in America. Based on reports today, he obviously didn’t mean a word of that. Maybe its just me, but I don’t see lies and flip-flops as signs of someone’s character. No, this wasn’t about character, it was about self-preservation and Arlen Specter’s overwhelming desire to maintain his power. And that my friends is exactly why we don’t need him in the party or the Senate any more.
