Many on the Right are a bit upset at the PC double standard by the media. The latest example of which were Wanda Sykes’ despicable comments at the White House Correspondents’ dinner.
Joking that an American was the 20th hijacker on September 11th to score cheap political points (and a minor laugh) is not funny. Neither is joking that someone’s kidneys should fail. Jokes about race or physical handicap are not funny either.
There are many things comedians say that I don’t find amusing or appropriate. But they are comedians, its what they do. And I’m tired of anyone trying to squash someone’s speech rights… its called FREE speech for a reason, and its not just free when you agree with it.
However, speech does have consequences and our impressions of a person should be developed in part by their speech.
Still, my concern is not with the idiotic jokes Wanda Sykes made, anyone whose ever heard a Wanda Sykes routine should have known what was coming. My concern is with a President who would laugh at them, and a White House who would hire her to begin with.
Based on the President’s campaign and constant cries that all criticism was racism, you would think Mr. Obama had a thin skin. Someone with such sensitive feelings should not turn around and laugh at jokes that others are terrorists, should die, or make light of the physically disabled. But then again, this is Obama’s World, and he gets to set the rules.
And it should come as no surprise. This guy… the leader of the free world… has proven he is classless time and time again. So why is anyone shocked when he laughs at inappropriate jokes. The shock would have come if he didn’t.
As for Ms. Syke’s, Rush Limbaugh, and the uproar on the right. I have only one thing to add:
Wanda Sykes is a Nappy Headed Ho and Rush Limbaugh can defend himself. Deal with it.
And to the Liberals on the Left… shut up with your PC Police nonsense. The ridiculous heights of your hypocrisy is starting to wear thin… proven once again by your silence on this issue and outrageous uproar over others, all because of the culprit’s political point of view.
So, if jokes about race are not funny, then what’s up with the “nappy headed ho” routine. I don’t think you qualify as a comedian. Don’t quit your day job of becoming more ineffectual and irrelevant with every passing day. Way to accuse the other side of that which you are most guilty.

I said Don Imus’ “Nappy Headed Ho” remark was disgusting, but I also defended his right to say it. The left, however did not, yet they are completely silent when Wanda Sykes calls Rush Limbaugh a treasonous terrorist and hopes his kidneys fail.

By the way, Genius, since you bring it up, do you know how I felt about Bush’s jokes at the Correspondents’ Dinner you mention? No, you don’t. I think these things are in poor taste in general. But at least both Bush and the comedians he chose made fun of Bush. Apparently no one can make fun of your ObamaMesiah, so they have to attack someone else. Pathetic, really. Bush laughed at himself. Obama laughed at the wish that someone else would die (kidney’s fail). Big difference.

Before today I had not heard of Wanda Sykes. I am very surprised to find out that this Sykes thing is a celebrity. A lot of bloggers said something similar to what you said about her late night TV routines and the White House should have known Sykes had bad taste. It’s news to me that she is a comedian or even a celebrity. But I don’t feel I missed anything.
About Sykes being a nappy headed ho – I agree, and I support free speech rights. Anyone who is offended need only click their browser’s back button if they don’t agree with anyone’s blog post. Meanwhile untold numbers of Americans were exposed to Sykes’ hate-filled “humor.”
And the president and first lady loved it. I think that’s the most important thing to remember. There’s low-class trash in the White House – even after Sykes left.
Hit the back button, turn the radio dial, walk out of a movie, change the channel…. we all have a choice in what we listen to/read/watch.

I am pointing out the hypocrisy of the silence on the left, by calling Ms Sykes a “Nappy Headed Ho”. As she clearly points out in her interview with Jay Leno during the Imus Controversy, her hair isn’t even nappy… its curly.

And Craig, I am not upset with a Black man in the White House. I voted for a Black Man in the primaries (Alan Keyes) and if the choice was him and John McCain, I would have voted for Ambassador Keyes. But that wasn’t the choice. It was John McCain and a Socialist. And the Socialist is who I have a problem with. The color of his skin matters not.
