I measured a solid 3 inches of snow on the back deck a few minutes ago… and its still coming down. A rare sight indeed in the triangle area of North Carolina. The dogs have never seen such snow before, both of them seemed intrigued to run through the fluffy white stuff. Sydney is especially frisky, and really wants us to take her out and play… but the wife has to work so I’m driving her to work instead of us enjoying this with the dogs. I’ll try and take some pictures later.
I know my friends up north think 3 inches is no big deal, but around here just a hint of snow causes runs on the grocery stores and wrecks on the road. There are a lot of transplanted yankees in Cary, but even they forget how to drive in the snow when they come South (I never thought much of the driving skills of northerners anyway).
I’ll skip the allusions and happy-cheerier nonesense of the cleansing of the snow compared to our new President’s innauguration. Save that garbage for someone who can stomach it. I wish the best for our new President and our country, but I think the rare white ground cover will keep my mind and spirit otherwise occupied on this cold January day.
